Christmas is celebrated in Moscow in accordance with the Julian calendar on the 7th of January. This is a big celebration across Russia for Orthodox Christians. Needless to say there are events starting on the 25 of December. A special holiday televised speech by the president if given on the eve of the Orthodox Christmas.
