Peter Mark Forestside hair salon provides a new look with a clean fresh Miami inspired style. The salon is bright and airy with minimalist modern glamour details. The design is quite clever with a back focal wall made out of white precast sculpted panels which gives the space a wonderful textural pattern. Sophisticated polished chrome details adorn the salon in the form of doors, moldings and trims. The space is offset with a soft dusty duck egg blue painted walls which give the feel of being near a tropical beach. The center focal point of the room is a large chrome spherical chandelier with it wave like sections that appear to be floating within the space. Luscious red velvet curtains fill the large glazed store front and that offsets the space with just the right amount of drama.

The brief for STYLE CLUB was to deliver a completely new “concept salon” which would push the boundaries of design. It is a space, which will be staffed and patronized by those, prepared to set trends and dare the status quo of hair styling. This is not a place for the timid. It takes Punk, Anima, New Wave, Memphis and Classical Designs and mixes a potent 21st century cocktail. The design is not minimal. Less is not more in this space-more is more and very entertaining. Entering the salon feels like falling into Alice in Wonderland, where this time she’s a punk rocker. Patterns clash and work at the same time. Colors collide that should never go together, and yet somehow work. Everywhere you turn is a new experience, you just want to sit down and have the stylist create your own personal style.

Today FM called on listeners to sponsor the presenters of the radio station toShave or Dyetheir hair, or join in by taking part in their own Shave or Dye event. The overall campaign has been a phenomenal success.  Today FM set themselves a lofty target to raise €200,000.00 and rose over €596,000.00 worth of funds through the generosity of their listeners.

We wanted a publication that showcased inspirational products, innovative projects and contained relevant, useful information.

GARRY COHN

Garry Cohn has more than 20 years experience in hotel, retail, commercial and residential design . He once led his own design company in New York City and was a design professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Until recently, he worked as Creative Director for Douglas Wallace in Dublin. His design work at the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Co. Waterford was highly commended in the 2008 IDI design awards. He has recently been nominated, along with his design team, for the 2009 Andrew Martin Interior Designer of the Year Award, for the Style Club Salon on South William Street in Dublin.
