Throughout the project the concept was to treat the building as an ornate jewelry box displaying its precious jewels inside. There was total respect for the building which was reflected in the approach to the design of interior. Always complementing and highlighting the grand architectural details the design merged modern and traditional furnishings and structures to create a space in side of a space. The result celebrates the glamour and style of yesterday and complements it with the sleek and modern designs of today.

EMPG invited Design Factory to celebrate the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, County Waterford, one of the most exciting places to eat in Ireland, with the design and publication of a new book.

Written by Head Chef Martijn Kajuiter from the Netherlands and edited by one of Ireland’s leading food writers Tom Doorley, the book is lavishly illustrated with photography by Andrew Bradley, who has successfully collaborated with Design Factory on previous projects.

The Cliff House Hotel is a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world. They go for the superb views, modern design and outstanding food.

Garry Cohn has more than 20 years experience in hotel, retail, commercial and residential design . He once led his own design company in New York City and was a design professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Until recently, he worked as Creative Director for Douglas Wallace in Dublin. His design work at the Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Co. Waterford was highly commended in the 2008 IDI design awards. He has recently been nominated, along with his design team, for the 2009 Andrew Martin Interior Designer of the Year Award, for the Style Club Salon on South William Street in Dublin.
